This is an early demo

The content is intentionally short (around 20 minutes), but it already represents the final game very well in terms of visuals, sound atmosphere, and gameplay.

Perceptum

Perceptum is an independent psychological horror game lasting around 3 hours, focused on discomfort, uncertainty, and the feeling that something is always just out of sight. You play as a medium searching for a family that mysteriously vanished shortly after moving into their new home. Inside the house, familiar spaces feel wrong, silence becomes oppressive, and your senses cannot be trusted. Walk through the odd halls of the house, close your eyes to hear the beyond, use your mirror to see the unseen, and uncover the truth hidden within these walls.

Your Objective

An entire family vanished without a trace. The police eventually abandoned the case. Now, you are the last hope to uncover the truth. As a medium, you must step inside the house and piece together what truly happened. Search for clues, solve puzzles, and let your senses guide you through this linear horror experience.

Gameplay Experience

store description mechanics

Your only weapons are a mirror and the ability to close your eyes. Your mirror reveals what cannot be seen with the naked eye, exposing hidden traces and disturbing reflections. Closing your eyes leaves you vulnerable, forcing you to rely on altered sounds and distant whispers to find your way. As you explore the house, curiosity and unease grow side by side. The atmosphere is oppressive, and the feeling of being watched never fully fades.

Tension runs throughout the experience, shifting between quiet oppression and intense moments of fear. The house reacts to your presence, and the mirror remains both a tool and a threat. When something finally reveals itself, there is no way to fight back.

Trust your instincts: if you think you saw or heard something, you probably did. Stay calm, pay attention to every detail. You might not be alone.

This was an awesome demo my dude! Very entertaining all around and great mechanics! It was super cool how the ghosts and demons would appear so quickly! It was interesting how they appeared in the mirror and nice you didnt use any cheap sound stings to make the horror, but let it work on its own! It felt very much like a horror ghost movie! The closing eyes mechanic worked great too, it was cool hearing the different soundscapes! I enjoyed this demo and cant wait for the full game! Here is my gameplay video, sub and help my channel grow everybody! :)

Thank you so much for trying and for your great message! I watched the video, I’m so happy that you saw details and rare apparitions. You definitely embody the medium character! I wish you the best for your projects.

Simon

If I pick up the mirror on the shelf in the bedroom I can't use it. If I press the mouse button I can hear a sound, but the mirror does not show up. Tried this version here on itch.io and the steam version. Also tried different graphic settings, none worked. So I am stuck now in the bedroom. The game was great so far.

Hey Lux Noire thanks for the report and I’m sorry that you can’t try Perceptum. To understand what happened I need more information:

  • What’s your framerate ? Under 30FPS the game can have bugs.
  • To be sure, you have to hold the mouse button to use mirror. If you only click you will hear the mirror but won’t be able to use it.

If nothing resolve your issue would be great to send me a video at hello.duckreaction@gmail.com

A video with the first puzzle in the house and the mirror issue.

Thank you

Simon

Hi Simon,

thanks for you effort. I just realised I have to hold the mouse button for the mirror to appear. Feel so stupid :-) Now it is working! I whishlisted it of course.

Hey Lux,

No problem haha I prefer this than a bug to be honest. Let me know here if you have another issues :) And thank you so much for supporting us!
